How it all began
"In 1941, the founder of the Van Mossel car company, W.B.J. (Wilhelm Bernardus Jesaias) van Mossel, received his Bovag diploma."
In 1947, Wim van Mossel founded “Automobielbedrijf W.B.J. van Mossel”, located at 7 Krommeweg in Den Bosch. During 1949, he moved the car company to 36 Oostwal in Den Bosch.
In 1954, Wim van Mossel became the official dealership of the Volkswagen brand for his location at the Port of Waalwijk.
"In 1957, a new start was made with the construction of Autobedrijf Van Mossel on the Grotestraat in Waalwijk. On 12 April 1958, the company was put into operation at its new location."
In 1974, Autobedrijf Van Mossel became the dealership of the Audi brand.
Eric Berkhof came to work as an intern at Autobedrijf Van Mossel in 1982. After completing his studies in 1984, Eric started working for Autobedrijf Van Mossel and on 15 July 1988, Eric took over as head of the company.
"Van Mossel Leasing was founded in 1992, to improve the company’s relationship with the business market and to maintain its relationship with the end users. In 1996, the first body repair company was added to the Van Mossel Group."
In 2005, the new head office opened on the Kraaivenstraat in Tilburg, integrated with the Commercial Vehicle Centre. In the same year, the first Mega Occasion Centre also began operations on the Kraaivenstraat.
Eric Berkhof and Ben Mandemakers set up BEE Holding together, in order to allow the Van Mossel Group to continue growing. In the following years, the car brands Opel, Ford, Peugeot, Citroën, Land Rover and Jaguar were added to the brand palette.
In June 2016, the name of the company was changed to Van Mossel Automotive Group. In 2018, the brands Seat, Škoda, Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Renault, Dacia and Nissan were added to the dealership.
2020 was characterised by a large number of acquisitions in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. This made Van Mossel the largest automotive group in the Benelux.
In 2022, Van Mossel Automotive Group began building a premium automotive location. The site is being developed as a new head office and logistics centre on an area of almost 13 hectares. It will include almost 9,000 m2 of office space and more than 21,000 m2 of remarketing space, with 3,500 parking spots.
